Graphical User Interface (GUI) dan tingkat keamanannya (privilleges) -hal ini membuat sistem operasi Windows Vista tidak mudah terjangkiti virus. Namun, karena sistemnya yang boleh dikatakan terlalu paranoid, beberapa aplikasi menjadi terasa sulit untuk diinstalasi di dalamnya. Termasuk di antaranya program SQL Server 2005. Biasanya pesan (Warning Message) yang muncul saat pertama kali melakukan instalasi adalah:
Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is either not not installer or is disable. IIS is required by some SQL Server feature. Without IIS, some SQL Server features will not be available for installation. To install all SQL Server features, install IIS from Add or Remove Programs in Contro; Panel or enable the IIS service through the control panel if it is already installed, and then run SQL Server Setup again. For a list of features that depend on IIS, see Fetures Support by Editions of SQL Server in Books Online.
Berikut ini Tips praktis instalasi SQL Server 2005 di Windows Vista :
1. Log-on dengan user yang memiliki hak administrator
2. Instal IIS pada Windows Vista Anda dengan cara: Start –> Control Panel –> Programs –> Programs
and Features –> Tur Windowsfeatures on or pff –> Enable
3. Enable Various Features of IIS dengan cara:
1) –>Web Management Tools –>IIS 6 Management Compatibility –>[IIS 6 WMI Compatibiity][IIS
Metabase and 6 Configuration Compatibility]
2)–> World Wide Web Services–>Application Development Features–>[ASP.NET][ISAPI Extensions]

3)–> World Wide Web Services–>Default Document–Windows Authentication

4. Install OWC. Apabila komputer Anda belum terinstall Microsoft Office, jalankan terlebih dahulu instalasi
owc11.exe (Office Windows Component)
5. Install SQL Server 2005.
6. Ingat untuk menjalankan SQL Server 2005 service pack 2.
